I am the daughter of a public school teacher and a US Navy veteran, and grew up in Massachusetts, in a small town not unlike Croton. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in design from Seton Hall University and decided to stay in the New York metropolitan area, working for several well-regarded web design firms before the “dot-com” bubble burst (the first time!).
I then learned a whole new industry – financial services – and have spent the last 20+ years as an editor and supervisory analyst of institutional equities research for a global financial services company. My family jokes that I spend most of my day reading research, only to turn off my computer and pick up a book to read for pleasure the rest of the night.
My husband, Tim, and I decided to make Croton-on-Hudson our home 20 years ago, drawn in large part by the strength of the school district. (And a move to the other side of the Tappan Zee Bridge, thus a little close to New England and our families, didn’t hurt!) Our son, Owen, is now a sophomore at CHHS. We share our home with our loveable and cuddly rescue dog named Penelope.
In addition to my BOE tenure, I am also proud to have served on the Board of Directors for Groundwork Hudson Valley since 2020, a Yonkers-based non-profit organization that transforms urban neighborhoods through partnerships that inspire young leaders and support local economic development. Groundwork provides experiential hands-on opportunities to promote education on practical sustainability concepts and community preparedness. It also trains, mentors, and employs youth in conservation, leadership, and real-world skill-building.
